Rediscovering the joy of life through cooking
When I rediscovered how much I enjoyed cooking after having children, I realised that it was something that my family needed me to do multiple times a day, but because it’s also something I enjoy doing a lot that meant many opportunities to do something enjoyable throughout the day – every single day.
Because I work full time and have three small children, I have to fit cooking in between other things, while working, playing, feeding and all other forms of multi-tasking, and include my children in the process as often as possible. Most of these recipes are easy to fit into a busy life, with minimal preparation or hands-on ‘cooking’ time. Most can be left an extra few minutes on the stove, in the oven or slow cooker and not much will go wrong.
I am a great advocate for the fact that the best ingredients produce the best results, but I know that sometimes, you can’t always go to a specialist food shop or even a supermarket and have to make do with what is available at home or whatever is most convenient or affordable, so a lot of these recipes have been developed with that in mind as well.
In my house, I only cook once for everyone, so all of these recipes can be eaten and enjoyed by people of all ages – from weaning babies to adults with a few adaptations here and there. They are all tried and tested.
